i caught up with a childhood movie i thought i hadn't seen.  (what can i say, my childhood was a blur.)  but i did braid my hair like demi moore, and have a best friend that summered in nantucket.  i made a surprise visit there the summer after we graduated high school.  since that was practically the 80s, it was just like one crazy summer.  jocks, regattas, old rich preppies, hippie artists, summer love.  actually, i think that's how nantucket always is.

some old some new

things are shaping up home life with a mini-remodel.  old roommate moved out of my new room, new roommate moved into my old room. 
i found the most perfect grey white paint ever. 
i was a little bummed that i didn't knock it out in one coat and had to do a little touch up with a light second coat, but it made all the difference.  my father's father, and his father were house painters, dating back to the late 1800's. 
i guess the apple does not fall far from the tree. 

you buy the paint and i will change your life.  swear.

SF back and forth, first visit since september of last year.  what a stretch, that's over 6 months, count em.  although the reason for my trip was not fun based, i managed to poke around a bit and make sure i am keeping up with the scene... meet and greet, get a private after hours tour of this show, sneak peek of new shop, drop off some zines (here), check out some new ones, do the numbers game, (best accountant in the world), and say my goodbyes.  i only got one photo.

celebrating the first day of spring by doing the fiscal responsible thing and finishing my taxes!  i figure it is best to do it before spring fever really hits...

dirty beaches

in my personal opinion dirty beaches and frankie rose & the outs were the best part of the night.  if you didn't know any better you would have been dazzled by the dum dum girls, they played a solid set.  but they've cleaned up their act a little too much for my taste.  i'm a dirty birdie what can i say.

my first snow this winter

as per usual i missed the monster blizzard of the year, of the past few decades really.  but last night i got a sweet little snow storm. watched the big flakes pile up from the comforts of small sushi bar right next to work. wasted away a couple hours with a few of my favorite things friends, beers and gyozas.
went to sleep with this... woke up to this...

hey, i'm about to save you some money!

as i am purging/cleaning/downsizing my belongings in to my mega-tiny room i came across the good 'ol "to be altered" bag.  you know the one that hides in the corner of your closet and as you make outings to thrift stores some random dress or skirt makes it's way into that bag, and presto one year later is still there, un-hemmed.  well, good news!  hemlines have come down this season, and next season too!  so save your money for hanukkah, christmas, or for your bahama bruise cruise, cuz you don't have to alter those suckers for like at least another year!!  xoxo karebear
